This thistle painting holds a special place in my heart. The idea came to me while walking in the mountains of the Algarve, where nature’s rugged beauty never fails to inspire me.

The colour palette of this Algarve original art is warm and inviting, with shades of pink, red, and beige, accented by strokes of green and yellow. My painting style is expressive, using bold, impasto brushstrokes to add texture and dimension to the image. By centering the composition and filling the frame, I wanted to draw the viewer’s eye directly to the heart of the cluster, capturing its strength and vibrancy.

Through careful use of light and shading, I aimed to give the forms a three-dimensional quality, creating a sense of depth and movement, as if the buds are on the verge of bursting open.

As an artist painting Algarve, I find endless inspiration in the untamed beauty of the landscape. This piece, signed and dated in 2019, marks another chapter in my journey as an Algarve artist, celebrating the resilience and elegance found in nature’s smallest details.
