In this Algarve
original art piece, I embraced a rustic impressionist style,
using only a palette knife, without any brushwork, to create an authentic,
textured spread across the canvas. The thick layers of oil paint, applied with
bold strokes, enrich the colours and bring a rugged, expressive quality to the
landscape.
Light and shadow play a crucial role in this composition, setting the stage and adding depth. Rather than focusing on fine details, my intention was to draw the viewer’s eye to the textured interplay of colour tones, allowing the painting to come alive through movement and contrast.
As
an artist painting Algarve, I often find
inspiration in the breathtaking landscapes around me. This particular piece was
inspired by my many walks through the mountains of Monchique, where the raw
beauty of nature never fails to ignite my creativity.
Recently signed in the lower right corner, this painting marks its completion, another chapter in my journey as an Algarve artist, where I continue to explore the limitless possibilities of texture, light, and emotion on canvas.
